After reading the various reviews for this brand of hot chocolate machine I bought the Grande (60 oz) machine for a special winter event my company was hosting. What a great decision! First snowfall of the year, customers were streaming in & met with a Perfect Temperature cup of hot chocolate! Perfectly mixes cold milk & powder hot chocolate, fun frothing feature, and truly reheats mixture to the perfect temperature as needed - without supervision. After making two big batches and 3 hours of operation, cleaning the heating plate of baked-on chocolate took a few minutes with a Dobie - a small price to pay.

I bought a snazzier model by a different maker in the smaller size for home use (at twice the cost of this big one). We really missed the dispenser tap and automatic reheat features of the Back to Basics brand. After only one use, we ditched that one and bought this one in the smaller size. We’re pleased to say the little guy is perfect for countertop use & comes with all the features of the Grande.

Since my last comment a year ago I have moved to the US and due to voltage have been forced to buy a new machine. Purchased exactly the same one and continue to be just as satisfied as with the first one. Paid the price - but having said that I see that costs are falling here. The new machine operates as consistently and well as the first. Recommendation therefore remains the same!
We bought this machine a month and a half ago with great anticipation since we experienced Nespresso several times before. Since we are fans of cappuccinos, Lattes and Macchiato’s this machine seemed to answer our needs. It did and in spades. Everything the machine is expected to do it does. I read other reviews but have not experienced any of the issues mentioned. The milk froth is fine, even adjustable. I prime/clean the spout after every session to make sure all is clear. Since you can adjust the quantities I was able to play around (drinking much coffee, strong and weak) before finding my ‘eureka!’. It’s simply the most easy coffee machine to use, with fantastic results. As for temperature of the coffee - I also felt sometimes the coffee wasn’t warm enough but after running my cappuccino mug under hot water before making the coffee for a moment this was no longer an issue.
We’ve had friends with typical home version espresso machines that just sit there until there is a special occasion because it’s just too much trouble - this machine has easily become an everyday machine for us since we got it, which is what I think Nespresso/Delonghi intended.

PROS: great coffee, many choices (even the short intense blends work in cappuccinos or long (luongo) coffees, space for taller glasses/cups for milk coffees, EASE OF USE!
CONS: price (pretty steep in the US - I bought mine in Switzerland for US0) but for the ease of use it’s worth it, the space for taller cups is relatively narrow so you need to find ones that will fit (your usual huge Starbucks mug won’t cut it here).

I know there are a lot of complaints against the Melitta (believe me, i read all the reviews before deciding which pod brewer to purchase), but it really is my favorite for the price range. I’ve found that it’ll take just about anything i can cram in that little pod holder from loose leaf tea to senseo pods, to tea bags. Honestly i bought one bag of melitta pods and haven’t bought any more-i think they brew a pretty gross cuppa, but this machine is quite the trooper!

I’ve used it faithfully every morning for almost a year now and have never seen the problems i’ve read of others, like the leaking and whatnot. Every once and a while it will drip from the top there, but that’s only when i don’t cram a teabag in properly and the edges stick out and break the seal so really it’s my own fault.

It also makes the shallow side come out in me because it is just so much more attractive than any other pod brewer on the market. It has such a sleek modern style that makes the senseo look like a hunched over grandma, or as if its owner decided that an oven was the best place for storage. It heats up fast, brews a decent cup of coffee (or tea), and looks good while doing it! What’s not to love?

My Mom had one and my husband wanted his own, liked it so much we bought one for our son. It works great, we have latte’s every day… and my husband loves waking up to the smell of made coffee, better then an alarm clock… It doesn’t come with a frothing cup so make sure you get that seperate.

Bialetti Class 4-Cup Stovetop Espresso Percolator Feature

This works VERY well to make a strong coffee that is more intense than that from any drip or press coffee maker but not so powerful as a big high pressure espresso machine in a cafe. Somewhere in between - but quite nice and inexpensive for the home. Cleans up easily. These are made in India (probably by guys sitting with hammers on the sidwalk) so may vary a bit sample to sample.

The only problem is the rubber seal ring - this gradually wears out and if you don’t find an original Bialetti replacement, it can leak steam no matter how hard you gorilla down the threads.
